Dare to Do! You want what, a consistent theme of twenty 8 x 8 paintings completed in three months? Do you realize I still work a 50 hour a week job on top of this challenge to do! Well, these are some of the thoughts that have run through my mind in the last several weeks since I accepted this new show challenge, beginning April 7th, where my newest body of work will be exhibited.
Now, PLEASE, DON’T GET ME WRONG…I’m not complaining…REALLY, just feeling somewhat like I’ve bit-off a little more than I can chew. But, I’ve accepted the task at hand and I will complete it with the upmost commitment to excellence, regardless of the fact that when I accepted the challenge, I hadn’t planned on substantial hour changes with my day job.
For sometime now, I’ve been feeling the need to set several new challenges for myself, and with regard to my art, I’d thought perhaps painting smaller would be a way to go, as most of my work up to this point has been large. So, here I am tackling this large project in “8 x 8’s”, alias “Small by Small”.
Anyway, I just thought I’d give you a sneak peek at what I’m calling “Shades of Jade”. It’s just a few pieces of what I’ve created around my chosen theme, “Northern California’s Rivers and Creeks”, for this years “20/20 Spring Show” held by one of Sacramento’s Midtown Galleries, the 20th Street Art Gallery. I’ll keep you posted as I get closer to that date. In the mean time I’m working and painting and painting and working. That’s about it!
Until next Blog post….Jim
